Dark room, mattressless bedframe, blah blah blah. The most unusual bit of scene-setting is the plastic tray in plain sight on Alex's desk, right in front of the screen. It sits on a heating pad, it's covered with a clear plastic lid, and on it is an oval egg about the size of a large chicken's.

Alex himself is in the mid-background, regarding it with irritated resignation. He addresses it in the same way.

"Guess you survived all right."

(For the curious, the egg does not respond.
