10 // video/action // now the party don't start till I walk in
[The wall comm' is on, and so are the lights. Except that that's not electrical light. Alex's room now sports a broad bay window.
The cameras are all off, and most of them are gone, including the one in front of the door and the camcorder that usually sits on the desk. Only three remain, and one of them is in Alex's hands, tripod and all, as he carries it across the room and slings it into the closet.
A CD player provides poppy background music. Alex whistles along while he works.
Off-camera, there's a towel pinned over the mirror.]
((OOC: for convenience's sake, let's say all threads which aren't J's or the Operator's happen before those two.))

[I'm sorry, I was out of shirts, I'm afraid we're just going to have to settle for nude swimming ):]
....
....
*throws cobra at you* ]
You are inviting me to see for myself then?
[ She straightens herself up, not exactly moving to stand, but not exactly sitting still either. ]
[Oh man, what a shame. But convenient since I'm already nude.]
No, I'm not doing that either.
[ Aw man, if he has to knock her out or something, that'll not exactly encourage her to think he's a cool sort of guy. He's probably going to have to now, isn't he? Alex sits up straight as well, and this time his eyes flicker to the covered mirror, establishing its position relative to him in case he needs to keep his back to it. ]
[So... when did that happen?]
[ Here is where she leans back and ~SMILES~. There's a short pause as we move on from one clearly harmless subject to the next. ]
What is it like, living on the other side?
[I think somewhere around the public fountain part.]
It's... normal? I mean, we're closer to the Queen and our writing's the right way around, but I dunno what else there is to tell. We eat and sleep and hang out and stuff.
[ She might have relaxed, but he hasn't. He's closer to the mirror than she is, but he'll have to outrun her if she goes for the door. He's still glancing here and there, looking for things that might give him an advantage. The closet's too far away to be of use if he has to act quickly. On the other hand, there's a very solid-looking kettle not too far away by the desk. ]
[*acknowledges this statement by dancing nude in the fountain*]
Only if you are permitted, of course.
[ In the background the compilation CD is taking on a different tune (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs6RJ7-6MpQ) that doesn't quite match the atmosphere. ]
[*produces a camera out of nowhere*]
[ A few of the ways he could describe the Queen are treasonous, or might be treasonous depending on her mood, so there's safety in abstainance. And he doesn't like the sudden, self-satisfied way in which Lamb dropped the subject of the mirror, so he's distracted by waiting for her move, working out what his should be.
Also, he's genuinely surprised that she has to ask. ]
[...given your lack of clothing I find this quite concerning.]
Having heard and briefly spoken to her now I am merely curious if there is more to her than completely arbitrary cruelty towards her people.
[ It's an observation, quite emotionless, quite matter-of-fact. ]
[all I can picture now is "I find your lack of clothes disturbing *breathe*"]
Dude, you can't say stuff like that.
[...and I will leave my helmet... ON]
[Ooh, mister Vader, ooh~ *swoon*]
D'you want some tea or something? I mean I'm not being a very good host. I'll make you some tea.
[ Yeah, he's finally decided that the safest course of action is to knock Lamb out and tie her up somewhere until the Queen calls him back. There are very few things in this world that Mirror!Alex is truly in awe of, but one of them is Her Majesty's wrath.
He's not blustering because of panic, though. He's still pretty chill. He's just not practiced at deception. ]
[MEANWHILE my subject line is too short to describe what is happening in a 20 mile radius]
She briefly considers going for the towel, but whatever impact it would have must be big - big enough to keep it in mind for another time. For now the plan is to retreat and wait.
She stands up. ]
No, thank you. In fact I was just about to leave.
You said you've never been here before and I wouldn't want to be taking up too much of your time.
[But it involves planets bursting and stormtroopers turning gay!]
Okay, just a second.
[ The smile's still on his face as he leaps the few feet towards her and swings it round at her head. ]
[IT WAS AMAZING!]
[ Don't mind that, it's just a knee-jerk reaction. You see, it's a little bit creepy, having somebody who looks like Alex attack her deliberately like that, ~friendly smile~ included. By the way? THAT IS NOT HOW YOU SERVE TEA, GODDAMMIT!!!
Anyway, you will find that your common household Lamb is a little quicker on her feet when not on drugs. Her upper body jerks backwards reflexively, avoiding the blow... not avoiding having her glasses knocked off with full force. WHAT IS IT WITH YOU AND YOUR IRRATIONAL HATRED TOWARDS GLASSES?!
Normally this is where mediation comes in, but today Lamb can't afford to die and she doesn't yet trust herself to say anything that will stop the mirror. The towel is out of question now, so all that's left is a fairly undignified lunge for the door - once outside she is confident that the soothing whirrbleep of a flying killerbot will make Alex more inclined to let her go. ]
[THE END!]
[ Well crap, that could have gone better. Alex hurries forward to head her off on the other side of the eye-pleasing fern. He's not forgotten about that trigger-happy robot.
Swinging the kettle wildly would slow him down. He makes sure to catch up first, and then attempts to drive his elbow into her side to throw her off balance and slow her down for an easier shot. ]
[~CREDITS ROLL~]
There is no dodging this time and Alex's elbow connects painfully, knocking her aside. The good news is that she stumbled out of immediate striking distance, but the bad news is that she's now in a position where she will neither reach the mirror nor the door before Alex can take more swings at her.
She slowly backs further into the room, her one hand clutching her side where Alex hit her, the other trying to hang inconspicuously loose while secretly fumbling to reach into her bag.
Her gaze is fixed on the attacker, her voice is not a plea, it's a warning... if only a moral one. ]
Alex, don't.
[~CREDITS... CONTINUE ROLLING~]
Just 'til I get the okay to go back.
[ Quickly, he draws his arm back to swing again. ]
[~THEME MUSIC STARTS PLAYING~]
But more importantly? The moment Alex takes another swing Lamb too raises her hand jerkily, the sound of rustling plastic accompanying the gesture.
There is a squelching noise and then something green comes flying towards Alex or rather Lamb really hopes that she just sent something flying towards the blurry thing that is Alex, rather than wasting her only chance on attacking the eye-pleasing fern. ]
[~CURTAINS NARROW, LIGHTS COME UP~]
Alex doesn't have time to see what she's thrown, just that something's flying towards him. He's too close for the attempt to avoid it to be anything but ungainly. All he really succeeds in doing is missing Lamb and getting hit anyway. Thin green smoke springs up, threading around him. It only gets his elbow, but it feels like ice water slapping directly across his eyes.
Immediately, he stills, the hand with the kettle in it dropping to his side, looking almost sheepish. What was he attacking her for? He doesn't want to do that. That's a bad thing to do.
Temporarily purposeless, he stands motionless, head bowed slightly, his breathing shallow. ]
[People are leaving the theatre AND GODDAMMIT WON'T ANYBODY CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES?!]
Lamb lowers her hands and looks at
the blur she hopes to beAlex. ]Drop the kettle.
no subject
He relaxes his fingers and lets the kettle fall to the carpet with a clunk. ]
[WAS THAT GUILTY SILENCE JUST NOW?! *WAVES EMPTY POPCORN BAG ANGRILY*]
With her vision restored she takes a long look at Alex, eventually completing her inspection with a motion towards the sofa. ]
Sit.
[HEY LADY, I TOOK MY RUBBISH OUT WITH ME.]
Mmhm.
[ When she says sit, he looks up to see where she's pointing, then moves to the sofa and sits there. The cloud goes with him; whether it's seeping from the bright stain on his arm, or from everywhere at once, is hard to tell. ]
[*THROWS BAG AT YOU* YEAH, RIGHT!!]
Congratulations, Mirror Alex. You were the first lucky test subject for her new and improved hypnosis pollen. Feel free to contact us anytime you wish to renew your subscription. ]
[END. SCENE. *FLICKS POPCORN INTO YOUR HAIR ROLL*]
When the clouds dissipate, fresh air revives him, and he realises what happened, a fair amount of fretting goes on. But he makes the executive decision not to follow her. She once said her number aloud in this room, so he knows where she lives - but between the pollen and the shooty robot thing, he doubts he can get the jump on her. Alex does not thrive on risk.
So that means... he's going to have to trust in her goodwill? Oh. My. God. ]
