The communicator, as ever, has chosen an opportune moment to turn on. It shows a low-lit room, a tiny crocodile in its terrarium, a... bleeding young man?
In the background, the bathroom door is open, and it's possible to make out Alex bending over the sink to the sound of running water and swear-words. The cabinet-door mirror above the sink has been smashed.
He turns off the tap and strides into the main room, heading for the closet, blissfully unaware that he's on more cameras than usual. His right hand is held up to his chest and shaking, and while he's washed the blood and most of the glass away, the cuts are already blooming with a thin red again.
